Childhood Obesity – Forcing Kids into a Life of Pain

Posted by admin - September 22nd, 2011

The nature of many weight-related health conditions involves the element of time. This means that sometimes it can take a long time for the more serious symptoms to start showing up. Still, childhood obesity definitely sets the stage for problems later on. Still, kids typically don’t suffer from as many medical issues as obese adults do–their youth protects them somewhat. Yet the condition itself is still thought as a risk factor for complications and conditions later on in life. Some of the more serious possibilities are stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure, some types of cancer, liver disease and heart disease.

Hypertension and high blood pressure are all but synonymous with obesity no matter what your age may be. There are some major medical conditions that don’t get seen during childhood obesity and others that are likely to appear. High blood pressure is one of these problems and it is most commonly diagnosed in young people who are severely obese or overweight. In addition to the obvious physical stress that is placed on a person’s body from the extra weight, there is tremendous psychological stress that gets put there too. Obese kids are regularly abused both physically and verbally by their classmates. So all of that adds up to a chronically stressful situation which, in turn, causes high blood pressure to occur.

Just about any person who is obese suffers from a litany of psychological challenges. Children who feel like they are being constantly abused by their classmates are more likely to suffer from things like low self confidence and self esteem, high stress and anxiety levels and might even hate themselves. These are silent problems that obese kids and teens often endure all by themselves. When the situation goes on long enough and gets severe enough it could cause the victim to develop behaviors that border on or even are sociopathic. There is no real data about how many obese high school students who then go on to college. Our guess is that there aren’t that many or that the number of obese high school students is much higher than the number of obese college students. Who can really blame them, though when they might be imagining more years of abuse and torture.

Teenagers have a faster rate of personality development and socialization than kids of other ages. Not only that but body image development is particularly fragile during the teen years. An obese teen is going to have a hard time developing normally as far as these things are concerned. What happens then is that the obese teen leaves high school at distinct disadvantages. Normal competition and success levels will be far more challenging for these kids.

These children need to lose this weight so we think that it is a good idea for them to have an emergency plan of action. Of course we realize there are millions of unique situations with these children. This situation has eluded being reversed so far, but it is very serious.

Posted by admin - September 22nd, 2011

This notebook computer, the Apple MacBook Pro Winter 2011 Notebook, has additional features that earlier models did not have that you should know about. Powerful computers to say the least, Apple notebooks are now becoming a mainstream item with many people that are interested in computers. In this article, we are going to discuss the Apple MacBook Pro, and why it may be a great computer for you.

The software that comes pre-loaded on the Apple MacBook is very powerful, indeed. It includes the Mac OS X Snow Leopard operating system. You will find many popular programs included with the Mac operating system, such as iTunes, Time Machine, Photo Booth, and QuickTime. iLife is a great way to get all of your photos, music, and even your movies, quickly and conveniently put into order. Do you have a digital camera or a smart phone that you use to take pictures? If so, it is a simple matter to download them into the MacBook and share them with everyone using iPhoto. Do you have original songs you want to record so you can share them? The user-friendly program called GarageBand does this for you. In July 2011, Apple introduced a new OS for the MacBook Notebooks called Lion. Based on the date you buy your computer, this OS might already be installed on your MacBook. If you still have Snow Leopard on your Notebook, there are many places available to download the new operating system, Lion, for free. Apple MacBooks are very popular with Apple’s giant fan base, yet it is not limited to only these consumers but others that may want to try these products out at some point in time. One reason you may want to get a Mac rather than a PC notebook is for security reasons. While any computer can get a virus, trojan, malware or other potentially harmful problems, Mac computers are much less susceptible to these than PCs. Not a lot of Macintosh oriented viruses are created which is why Windows has so many more viruses to worry about. Viruses may still attack Apple-based computers, but as usual, they will be fully equipped to handle any type of onslaught.

For your next computer, you might want to consider the Apple MacBook Pro because it has a modern design that makes it easy to use wherever you may be. The cost of owning this particular notebook is usually what holds people back from getting one. PC computers have always cost less than Macintosh computer so this is not anything new. You might want to look at a refurbished Apple Computer, however, you will still be paying for figures for a notebook of this quality. 15 inch and 17 inch models, though more preferable, are much more expensive. Most people that are Apple enthusiasts will say that the price of the computer is well worth the quality and benefits that you receive.
